In his two part series entitled “America’s Acupuncture
Points,” General Corpus outlines some of our
vulnerabilities. Here is a list of his points:
Potential Attacks
Electro-magnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack: This is where a nuclear device is exploded high into the air causing massive power grid damage. This is similar to lightning hitting your house. Most electrical devices such as computers will be damaged. This will also damage the ignition system on your vehicle. One bomb detonated over Nebraska can take out 90% of the U.S. power grid. A detonation off our coast can take out much of the power in cities located along the East or West coast. This can be done by launching a missile off a freighter. Presently, North Korea has the capability to accomplish this and Iran will also have this ability soon. This will result in the death of millions of people due to our supply system being disrupted (it is estimated that there is only a three day supply of food in our supply chain). Disease will follow due to poor sanitation and water quality. The government will not be able to help because they will be overwhelmed and outnumbered by the rioters and will have more pressing problems. Look at how our government handled Katrina after being given a three day notice. Of course our economy will collapse immediately.
Cyber Attack: Our supply chain is highly computerized and can be attacked easily and cheaply by any of our enemies. Imagine power grids, oil pipelines, the banking system and other business that can be affected. This will also collapse our economy.
Cutting Our Oil Supply: The U.S. gets 75% of our oil from other nations. Stupid does not describe this situation. It is more like “suicidal.” Our politicians continue to pass laws keeping us from drilling for oil in Alaska and other states. We have the ability to refine fuel from coal but no plants are being built, nor are any new refineries being built. All our enemies have to do is to mine the sea lanes or attack the tankers carrying this oil. It should be noted that U.S. oil companies control little oil production. Government owned companies are the biggest producers of oil. It should also be pointed out that most of these countries hate us. If they simply stopped selling oil, our economy would collapse. Russia has its own supply of oil and China has oil that is piped over land. Imagine gas at $20 a gallon or more and you can see the damage done to our economy.
Destroying The Dollar: Our politicians have done a very good job of this so far without the help of our enemies. I have written on the future national debt at 43 trillion dollars or 91% of all U.S. household net worth. It seems that this figure is now too low with new estimates at over 60 trillion. I minored in economics at U.T. but my five year old knows what happens when you spend all your money, your kid’s money and all that you can borrow. China now holds billions of our Treasury bonds and all they have to do is redeem them to help collapse our dollar. One half of all treasury bonds are now foreign owned. Our government will be forced to print more money as Germany did in the 1920’s to the point that the paper was worth more than the money. Also of interest is the fact that our savings rate is below zero. This means that most Americans are spending all that they make plus what they can borrow (like our government does). Twenty-five percent of all home mortgages are adjustable rates mortgages (ARMS). When the interest rates rise as a result of our government taking more and more money out of circulation (deficit spending), these people will go not be able to pay the higher payments and default on their loans. This will lead to overall home values declining as a result. If you study how the Argentina economy collapsed in 2001 you will see that we are following the same pattern.
Diplomatic Isolation: This is where all of the countries that hate the West (along with the U.N.) side with our enemies. These countries are Russia, China, Iran and Venezuela. These countries are also partnering economically and militarily as well. Europe will be busy with problems of their own, which is the problem of millions of Muslim immigrants taking over their countries, and will not be able to help the U.S..
Asymmetric Attack: This would be considered guerrilla warfare or other terrorist attacks on the U.S.. We are so vulnerable it is scary. Anybody can go to the store and buy all that they need to manufacture explosives. These can then be used on bridges, dams or anything else that will disrupt services. I believe that these attacks are already occurring but are being covered up so as to not alarm the public. Can you imagine what random acts of terrorism would do to our society? The two snipers in Maryland were caught because they were stupid, not by any great police work. There are potentially thousands of terrorist cells in this country waiting for the order to attack. We simply do not have the manpower to find and stop these people. This also will cripple our economy.
The following were not mentioned in the article but are also important:
Iran: If a leader of a country tells me that his goal is to murder me, my family and everybody in the West, I would take him seriously. This is especially true when the U.N. finds traces of plutonium at one of his facilities. The president of Iran has repeatedly stated his goal is to develop nuclear weapons so as to use them on the West and Israel. Iran and North Korea are partnering in building a nuclear weapon. The Iranian President has also stated that he has people in the U.S. ready to commit terrorist acts if we interfere with their fight with Israel. Iran supports, trains, arms and recruits terrorists in Lebanon, Somalia and most likely in Sudan. In fact, some of these terrorists are members of Iran’s military according to their former prime minister. These terrorists routinely attack Israel and murder its citizens. Iran is also trying to overthrow the pro western government of Lebanon as well. If Iran builds a nuclear weapon, you can be assured that they will use it on the West and will stop our oil supply by mining the gulf and attacking ships with missiles and torpedoes (Iran has a navy with submarines). Iran is forging alliances with other countries as well such as Venezuela (a top oil producing country) to unite against us. Russia is also a military supplier of Iran and has an 800 million dollar contract to build the Bushehr nuclear power plant and a 700 million dollar contract to sell 29 Tor-M1 air defense missile systems. Should Israel or the U.S. have to attack Iran, we can thank the Russians for helping our enemy. Perhaps the reason Russia is helping Iran is so that Israel will be forced to annihilate them with nuclear weapons. This would further drive up the price of their oil reserves. Glenn Beck (www.glennbeck.com) has reported more of this information than anyone. His program can be seen nightly on Headline News Network at 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
War: China is trying to develop nano- technology weapons that will render our nuclear weapons obsolete. They have been doing this research for 20 years while the U.S. has largely ignored these potential super weapons. For more information go to www.newsmax.com and look up articles by Lev Navrozov or go to his website www.levnavrozov.com. I recently saw where Israel was developing a robot the size of a hornet in order to conduct urban warfare. This is scary stuff. China is building up its conventional forces as well, and is partnering with Russia and buying its military hardware from them. Russia has developed a missile capable of penetrating our defense capabilities. China also has the ability to destroy our satellites, which renders some of our smart weapons useless.
Biological Weapons: There is some difficulty in manufacturing and dispersion, but a well backed program would work. Having suicide terrorists infected with smallpox walking around would be a nightmare scenario.
Loss of Manufacturing Base: I stand in amazement at how businesses will move plants to countries such as China that will one day simply take these plants away from them. Most people do not realize that China is a communist dictatorship. Tennessee has lost 16% of its manufacturing base in the last few years. Unfortunately, this trend will continue. The heads of some of these companies are thinking globally instead of looking to protect their customers and fellow countrymen here. Forty percent of multinational corporations’ business is outside the U.S. Customers need jobs, but if the jobs are all overseas they will not have any money to buy their products. Two thirds of our economy is fueled by customer spending. As I write this, Ford Motor Company has just reduced it’s workforce by 38,000 workers out of a total workforce of 75,000. General Motors is doing the same thing.
Jobs are also forced out of country by U.S. trade policies, allowing trade acts such as “dumping”(the selling of a product at a loss in order to drive out competition) to occur. Other reasons for moving out of the U.S. are due to rules and regulations that make a product too costly to make, and also by giving low trade barriers (most favored nation status) to countries such as China, who use slave labor. The U.S. has huge trade deficits (725 billion in 2005) and this must be stopped. A country cannot continue to buy more goods made overseas while exporting these same jobs in the process. I am for free trade and competition as long as it is fair and competitive.
Natural Disasters: We witnessed in Katrina how incompetent some of our politicians are at disaster preparedness. Relief trucks were ordered to turn around and leave. Shelters were not used. People were disarmed illegally and forced at gunpoint to evacuate even though they were in no danger and had supplies. As far as I could tell, little thought went into the New Orleans disaster planning. In the event of an earthquake or other disaster, the person who you should depend on for help is you. It is estimated that help will take at least three days in order to reach you. If you live in a rural area, it will take longer. The next time you go driving, notice how many bridges you cross. If even a small number are damaged, think about how difficult it will be for help to get to you. A friend of mine, along with two of his friends, was stranded in their apartment for three days without power in the last big snow storm. Had it not been for his neighbor sharing her food, he would have gone hungry. In some disasters you could be stuck indoors for weeks. There is now a snowstorm in Missouri that has left 350,000 people without power for over a week. It is easy to think that you can go to the store but what if it is closed, sold out or has been looted. Most foods will store for months or even years. It would be wise to have at least a three to six month supply of food in your house. By having to much you will be in a position to share like the neighbor did for my friend.
Education: Our education system as a whole in the U.S. is a disgrace. We place nearly last in every category compared to the rest of the world. While other countries are educating their children, our educators do very little to actually improve our children’s performance. I have written several articles on this on my website. Without an educated population we as a nation will lose our high paying jobs and this will doom our children to poverty. This is already happening now.
Crime: Tennessee is ranked 4th in violent crime in the United States. In the event of a crisis, you should expect riots and looting from the criminal elements. You should also expect ordinary citizens to break the law as they did in New Orleans. They will be unprepared and will have to join the rioters for supplies. Katrina gives us an accurate picture of how other larger cities may react in the event of an emergency. Criminals will break the law and the police will not and cannot stop them in a major event. Criminals out number the police thousands to one (there are simply too many criminals for the police to stop). You are on your own, plan accordingly.
Economic Crisis: We live in a society based on computers, credit cards and “just in time” food supplies. Our economy will not be able to absorb the disruption of services due to manmade or natural disasters for long. Most Americans live paycheck to paycheck and will face bankruptcy. The loss of manufacturing jobs will also hurt us. This economy is based on the service sector, but if no one can afford to purchase services the economy will quickly fail. In the Great Depression the U.S. was not as dependant on technology and could manufacture food and other essential goods. In the event of an EMP attack, most of this capability will be lost. Modern tractors will not work due to electronic damage. How quickly the system can begin to function again is anybody’s guess. What happened in Germany in the 1920s and 30’s was that farms were idle due to the businesses owning them failing. Also, the farmers did not have the money to plant their crops. Their famine (Germans were eating the plaster off their walls) was manmade. In Argentine’s collapse in 2001 lack of food and crime were two big problems. Another factor to consider is the fact that most seeds are hybrids and cannot reproduce. If the seed manufacturer goes out of business or cannot deliver their seeds farmers cannot plant any crops.
Medical Crisis: I discuss on this website the disaster that our medical facilities and staff face in the future. Our government has over-promised and will under-deliver in this area. This alone can devastate our economy. The huge numbers of baby boomers is the main reason for this crisis.
Multiculturalism: This is the belief that all cultures are equal and must be adhered to. We can see the effects (i.e. African-American, Mexican-American) that this has on our society in how it divides us. America works because people adapt to our culture (“the great melting pot”). There are Muslims demanding that they not be held accountable under U.S. laws but by their own religious laws. Others are trying to pass laws that we become a bi-lingual nation because they do not want to learn English. “United We Stand, Divided We Fall” is not just a catchy phrase but it is a core truth to the survivability of a people and nation.
Illegal Immigration: We need immigration to fill the jobs of those retiring. Abortion, which has killed over 45 million children, has devastated our tax base. These children would now be taxpayers. This, also combined with a declining birth rate, has left a shortage of workers in the United States. The President’s amnesty bill is not only stupid but will ruin us financially as well. We have to control our borders for security reasons. I have seen estimates of the numbers of illegals varying from 12 to 25 million. The fact that no one knows the number within 13 million people should make you mad at how little our government has done to protect us. Most of these people qualify for welfare and Medicaid, which is already scheduled to be in trouble in 5 years as is Medicare in 17 years. We need immigrants who contribute to our society, not take from it. We also need immigrants who want to be citizens or who want to work on visas then go back home. Right now we have neither.
What Must Be Done?
Knowledge is your best weapon in this struggle for survival. I hold certificates from FEMA in emergency program management, natural hazards, radiological (nuclear) emergency management and hazardous materials management. I was also certified in advanced first aid. The information from FEMA is free. Information from the Red Cross can also be downloaded freely. I recommend reading “Food and Water in an Emergency” by FEMA to get you started. You can live weeks without food but only days without water. It is up to you to take care of yourself and your family.
The State must build a coal to fuel refinery to ensure a supply of fuel to trucks delivering supplies, emergency equipment and military vehicles. If you remember, this was a problem for relief trucks going to the Gulf coast after Katrina. This fuel can be produced for about $1.50 per gallon. Bio-diesel plants also need to be built as well. Manure and food that has been discarded can be used to manufacture methane, which can then be used to power generators. This gives our farmers more markets for their products. The State needs to end the practice of surplusing low mileage vans and trucks (at U.T. surplus sales). We need to retrofit these vehicles to withstand an EMP attack and disperse them throughout the State along with emergency food and medical supplies. In the event of a catastrophe these supplies may not be able to be delivered. These foods can be grown and processed by prisoners and the supplies rotated to reduce costs. I believe that every student should also learn basic civil defense procedures as well as first aid. It will be fellow citizens who will be in a position to help in a crisis. The state must stop wasting money and get out of debt (at least 1 billion dollars worth). My papers discuss some of these topics in more detail. We face a determined foe and we must be willing to do everything necessary in order to keep our freedoms.
